Nothing exciting from any particular restaurant - but I was supremely pleased with the brunch I made for myself the other day....
Toasted quality wholemeal spread with avocado - fried Mamma Lucia haloumi and organic BBQ relish - topped with lots of salt & pepper and lemon juice.
So simple - SO GOOD.
Hope I win! I love the Taste and it would be great to check out the new venue.
Vue de Monde in August, absolutely blew my mind for the second time, from the service to the food, just an amazingly magical night!
I hope I win. My greatest foodie moment was ordering an aged steak at Rock Pool at crown and having my first bite into it. It was just like biting into a marshmallow!! My mouth watered and the senses in my mouth sent such pleasure to my brain. The best steak I've ever had!! Amazing...
I have had far too many fantastic foodie experiences to speak of!
My latest has been suckling pig Tuesday's at Gorski and Jones in Collingwood. Envisage this - perfectly cooked pig, cripsy skin, side of apples and red cabbage salad. Divine. Topped off the night with their panna cotta - velvety smooth!
I love that good food can get people so excited. Talking about it now is making me hungry again ;)
The thing that gets me excited about food is knowing there are people out there who are excited about food as I am. Food can be presented in a manner that an expression of how we feel; an art form even.
The best foodie experience I had was whilst visiting the Cinque Terre in Italy. We were seated outside at this gorgeous candlelit table, and I had ordered a basil pesto pasta. Out came the most delicious fresh pasta covered with the best pesto I have ever tasted. Many a basil plant has been wasted trying to recreate that dish!!
One of my best foodie experiences had to be our dining experience at Siena, close to the Piazza del Campo. A fresh pasta with duck and local herbs, while listening to a string quartet playing baroque music. A bliss.
My best food experience was in Ubud, Bali when my partner and I went for a long walk one evening and eventually got lost down the quiet end of the main street. We came across a small eatery consisting of many huts on stilts where patrons sat to eat their meals. We ordered $3 Ikan Bakar (bbq fish) that were from the local river nearby. A delicious fresh fish each to our selves, steamed rice with various tasty chili and vegetable sambals, dining along side all balinese locals, made up the highlight of all my food experiences so far.
My best food experiences are those I get to share with family and friends. I love making a huge feast and getting everyone around the table with good wine and lots of banter.
I had a bunch of friends for dinner last week and it was seeing everyone passing around dishes, pouring wine and laughing that made me think 'this is what food is all about!'.
I went to Taste of Melbourne for the first time last year, and can't wait to go again!! :)
My favourite foodie experience this year would have to be a barbeque in honour of my cousin's 21st birthday!
Imagine 4 generations of family, a perfect sunny day, loads of cheesy photos, and of course - so much delicious food that we were eating leftovers for 2 days afterwards...
For me, that's what makes me excited about food. Wherever there's food, there's a good time to be had with friends and family!
Thanks to all who entered. Unfortunately a few who have entered have left no way of me contacting you, or knowing who you are - but for those with a profile - I'm announcing the 2 readers winners as:Helen Tu & Sarah...
